This handmade piece is stamped "Peru"

It's not too often I come across a half plate daguerreotype--4 1/4" x 5 1/2"--this one much tarnished

These were done by a young John Mosher in 1939, in third grade, and feel to me as if channeling both Pennsylvania hex stars and Froebel kindergarten cut paper designs but rendered with the immediacy of hard pressed crayon!
