Edwin Kosarek 1950 Erongaricuaro Drawing - Portrait as Map of Michoacan language A Brown and done forI think his drawings were so good, lyrical and true feeling, and consistently inventive and surprising and this one combines two of my favorite things one: a portrait and a map! A point near the top of the head of this woman in profile is labeled Erongarcuaro (which means "Place of waiting" in the Purepecha language), a town in the Mexican state of Michoacan, and then down the train track like line to her wrist is the famous colonial town of Ptzcuaro.
